Zamboangueños in the Greater Toronto Area will have another taste of the Spring Dance that was successfully held two years ago.  This time, it will take place on April 5 at the South Common Community Centre in Mississauga to raise funds for Zamboanga Hermosa Canada Medical Mission to Zamboanga and Basilan.

As part of the evening entertainment, a Spring Princess will be selected from among the young ladies present.  There will also be attractive door and raffle prizes.

Chairman of the event, Art de Vera, says that the money raised will buy over-the-counter medication and supplies for common illnesses to be distributed to the poor.  He and Ramon Barrios, who had been coordinating similar activities in the past, will leave for Zamboanga in the summer for that purpose.

There will be a new election for the Executive Board of Zamboanga Hermosa Canada, 2003-2005, at the annual picnic and reunion on July 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Sir Richard Memorial Park on Lakeshore Blvd., Mississauga.

All Zamboangueño families and their friends are invited to attend this potluck reunion where there will be games for adults and children, prizes to be won and a chance just to be among compoblanos and speak Chabacano.

According to the ZHC president, Aida Elago-D’Orazio, the election is open to any member who wishes to become a member of the Executive Board.  “We need their commitment plus willingness to help out with the activities.”
